The team at Re-energise Physio, in Papamoa, have welcomed a new staff member into their fold, Clare Murden.

Clare is originally from the UK, where she graduated as a Physiotherapist in 2002 from the University of Hertfordshire in Southern England.

Lead physiotherapist Alex Boyd, who runs Re-energise Physio with his wife Kathryn and physiotherapist Jo Fox, says Clare will be a welcome addition to the existing team.

“Clare spent more than three years at the Royal Shrewsbury NHS Hospital, gaining invaluable exposure to a wide variety of physiotherapy specialties,” says Alex.  “In particular, medicine and neurological rehabilitation.”

Clare has worked in New Zealand before, as a locum in private musculoskeletal outpatient clinics around the Tauranga area.  She was in New Zealand for a year before heading back across the globe to work in the remote Western Isles of Scotland in musculoskeletal clinics, NHS hospitals and domiciliary care, visiting patients in their homes.

After returning to New Zealand to settle, Clare has worked in the Bay of Plenty in private practice, in the community, and from her own home-based clinic.

Clare has trained, through DMATM Pilates, to teach Mat and Reformer Pilates and taught classes locally at several locations in Mount Maunganui and Tauranga.  She taught Clinical Pilates classes for eight years and combines Pilates with physiotherapy and rehabilitation techniques.

“These skills help my patients maximise their physical performance and regain their freedom of movement,” says Clare.

Clare is perfectly suited to life in Papamoa, as she is an enthusiastic surfer.  She also enjoys running, horse riding and generally keeping fit and healthy.

Clare’s three children keep her busy and together they enjoy family camping trips around New Zealand.

Clare holds a BSc (hons) in Physiotherapy from the University of Hertfordshire and is DMATM qualified in Clinical Pilates.
